Black Gold is a hydroprocessed mineral oil, meaning it goes through a series of catalytic refinement steps that render it extremely pure, more viscous, and more stable than standard mineral oils. The result is a clear, non-detergent oil with ISO 41 viscosity that simultaneously acts as a lubricant, coolant, and sealant within the vacuum pump — helping the pump achieve and maintain deep vacuum levels during air conditioning and refrigeration system evacuation.
The clear colour of Black Gold is a key practical advantage — as the oil becomes contaminated with moisture from the system being evacuated, it turns cloudy or milky, giving the technician an immediate visual indication that the oil needs to be changed. Regular oil changes after each evacuation are recommended to maintain peak pump performance and achieve the deepest possible vacuum levels. If the oil is contaminated and a micron gauge is not pulling down to approximately 50 microns with a leak-free system, the oil should be changed immediately.
